Your Strada Vecchia 2018
Hotels and Accommodations

On Day One of Strada Vecchia, as evening approaches, the Alps begin to loom. The landscape changes, giving you hints of the fabulous scenery you will be driving through the next day.

After you pass Pontalier in South Eastern France, you will take a 30 minute detour off the main route for a hop into Switzerland and the Jura mountains to arrive at the first night's stopover hotel, the Grand Hôtel des Rasses.

At 1,200 metres above sea level, this super 3-star hotel provides a well-earned rest after a long day of driving. We will enjoy a three-course meal and catch up with fellow Stravavecchians to recount the day's adventures. After a relaxing evening and a good night's sleep, it's up early for an exciting Day Two of Strada Vecchia.

After an exciting day of driving through the fabulous scenery of the Alps, you will arrive in Northern Italy along Lake Maggiore, an incredibly beautiful alpine lake. The hotel at our second night's stopover point will be either in Baveno or Stresa.

The way it will work is by something called the Roulette Formula. Two months before the event the Zacchera Group will assign the entire Strada Vecchia group to one of the following 4-star hotels which all have undercover parking, overlook the Lake and are all of an equally high standard of excellence.

The Grand Hotel Bristol (Stresa)

The Grand Hotel Dino (Baveno)

The Hotel Splendid (Baveno)

The Hotel Simplon (Baveno)

Here too we will enjoy a three-course meal and will no doubt have more tales to share with our fellow Stradavecchians after a second day of driving in some of Europe's most spectacular scenery.

Stresa and Baveno are both wonderful lakeside towns with all the ingredients one expects from such a place. Watch the ferries come and go to the islands in the lake whilst enjoying an espresso or a digestivo. Later, you can walk off those stiff legs from having been sat in a car for two days by partaking of a night-time passeggiata. The atmosphere is truly magical. You can enjoy the next morning here too. Our final destination of Bardi will be about 3-4 hours away now so no need to get up at the crack of dawn.

For Day Three and Four in Bardi, Strada Vecchia destination, you will be accommodated and warmly welcomed B&B style in local guest houses and farmhouses, all of which are part of the local Agriturismo. Some of the accommodations will be in Bardi itself while others will be in the local area. There will be a shuttle bus to take teams to and from such accommodation so that they may celebrate without worrying about driving afterwards or getting lost up a mountain dirt track with a classic vehicle not designed for such roads! Classic vehicles are permitted to be parked in their assigned bays in the town square overnight where the local administration will provide a watchman.

Further details of the accommodations in Bardi and Shuttle bus schedules will be provided nearer to the event.
